Demonic spirits have names and in Isa 61:3 the Lord promises to give His people a garment of praise to replace a spirit of heaviness (NIV) or despair (NKJV). We have ministered to hundreds, if not thousands of people, over the years that battle depression. The best “answer” in the medical profession is to prescribe medications but these are temporary Band-Aids at best. A tiny percentage of people that we see are satisfied with this option and tell stories of frequent medication and dosage changes to try to find the “right” mix. (The gym seems to be a great place to share deep subjects while you are stuck on a treadmill counting the minutes until you can escape)

Our conversation centered on feeling guilty about allowing ourselves to get distracted by different activities set to scatter us in this Christmas season. The shopping, cooking, planning, wrapping, and all the cares of the world that distract us from the One who was born to bring peace and unity.
